Donīt worry about digital art or traditional. Both are different ways of art, not rivals. Traditional art will always be as important as it have been all these times.
Your picture shows pain in a noble animal. But the shine on its eyes also shows some kind of hope. I think this animal hasnīt given up yet. You did a great job with the neutral background and the white shining around the head. The white skin makes blood more agressive, you chose a good color. On the other hand, even when I love the horseīs eyes, I find something strange on them. Maybe a bit bigger than normal? Iīm not sure. Also, the black lines on the hair make a good contrast with the rest. The lights are well done on my modest opinion. I like it!
The style is able to maintain the majesty that has come to typify horses (to such a degree as to become cliche). I especially like the colors. The dashes of red suggest the landscape of the western states. Lastly I must commend the textures you've created with the strong, wandering strokes. The overall effect is one of eroded rock.
A downside, the brown border appears to be digitally drawn and the contrast between it and the traditional portion is jarring.
There are absolutely no words in any human language that says what I feel when I see this. I LOVE IT!!!! I LOVE YOU MY BESTEST FRIEND forever and for always. I thank you so much from the deepest part of my heart. These days are trying and will continue to be so but know that this has touched me like nothing else can
